Understanding makes the difference – recognize scam attempts and stay safe online.
New online scams have been detected:
- WhatsApp scams: Messages that appear to be from someone you know, containing links with text such as "look, you're in this photo" or "click the link to vote."
- Fake notifications claiming that you have unpaid fines.
In addition to these, other types of scams continue to appear, and new schemes are constantly evolving.
How to protect yourself:
- Do not open links from unexpected messages, even if they appear to come from known contacts.
- Never enter passwords, one-time codes (OTPs), or personal information on suspicious websites.
- Regularly check "Linked Devices" in your WhatsApp settings and remove any that you do not recognize.
- Watch out for spelling mistakes, unusual requests, and an urgent tone—these are common red flags of a scam.
- If you are unsure about a message, do not click—verify the source or contact official support channels directly.
