AikBank is the first to introduce SEPA payments

AikBank was the first in Serbia to meet all standards and receive official approval for the introduction of SEPA payments in May this year.

AikBank, the largest domestic private bank in Serbia, has been the first to receive official approval from the European Payments Council (EPC) to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). This means that starting in May this year, AikBank clients will be able to make payments in euros to 41 SEPA member countries in just a few seconds, and to make these payments with significantly lower fees than they do today.

After Serbia officially became part of the Single Euro Payments Area in May 2025, AikBank is the first bank to meet all technical, security and operational standards necessary for participation in the SEPA area.

" Being the first bank in Serbia to receive the green light for SEPA payments is a confirmation of our agile approach, innovation and commitment to keeping pace with developed markets. I am proud that AikBank has met the complex requirements for SEPA access. I believe that our clients will be equally satisfied when in a few months they will have the opportunity to make international payments in a faster, simpler and more convenient way ," said Petar Jovanović, President of the Executive Board of AikBank.

The systematic implementation of the SEPA standard in Serbia will significantly improve the way citizens and businesses make payments in euros. In addition to the fact that foreign currency payments from and to abroad will be made in just a few seconds, they will be made using unique order formats, which makes the process more practical. In addition, costs will be completely transparent and without intermediary bank fees. The SEPA system applies the highest European security standards, which provides clients with additional security and protection when making transactions.

AikBank's entry into the SEPA system is a strategic step that makes it easier for domestic companies to do business in the European market, encourages exports and makes Serbia a more attractive destination for foreign investors. The member states of the SEPA zone are: 27 European Union member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, the Vatican, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Moldova and Serbia.
